I recently bought a HUAWEI ASCEND smart-phone from Cricket, can I port the number & w/ another prepaid company?

Cricket is great for price. That's it. I need better coverage when I travel from Nc to Va. I would like to port my current number and new phone to say, Virgin Mobile. Are there any prepaid companies where I can also port my New Smart Phone.
