PDA: do you think it's cute or rude?

I'm not talking about making out and feeling each other up in public. I mean like holding hands, resting the head on the other's shoulder (usually while sitting down), arm around waist, and occasional kissing here and there - like peck kisses. My (now-ex) girlfriend had a problem with the arm-around-waist thing and little kisses here and there. She was cool with holding hands and leaning and things like that. And I loved and still love her (and no, we didn't break up because of this), but I was bothered by that problem. I saw it as self-centered if one thinks that other people are actually watching his/her EVERY move with their significant other, if they think that it's completely inappropriate to kiss or hold each other just a little - does everyone revolve around them? No. I just wanted to show the world that I love her, innocently, with sweet little gestures like peck kisses and arms around the waist n' stuff, not to be obnoxious to the public. Would you think, if you saw that level of PDA between two people in public, it would be rude or charming?
